Life Happens

I haven’t written for a while because until I get connected to the internet consistently at some point it’s frustrating trying to publish. What do I mean by life happens? Simple. It’s the day to day things we all have to do and the extras and add ons that come up, some scheduled and many not.

It’s been strange not running since my last race in Colorado but until I could get an appointment to get my knee checked out I knew I was only making it worse by continuing to run. Truth be told and this is a tough reality, any consistent running and racing may be over. I’m hoping for the best but not expecting it since doctors have been telling me to stop running since  before my surgery in 2016. I have continued to walk three miles most days with a brace on. I see my doctor today to get a referral to orthopedics.

Continuing with the medical theme I also saw my GI doctor this week. He’s the first doctor I’ve had who has taken my anemia seriously. His next step is to refer me to a blood specialist so now I’m waiting to hear from them.

Despite the fact that I may have to walk the entire thing I signed up to do a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day with Smitty and Brandy. Depending on weather Denise and John’s mom.

The weather has definitely taken a turn. It’s more wintery than fall now with a lot of foggy mornings, cloudy days and colder nights. I’ve moved Charlie and Sassy into the trailer with me nights now. It’s obvious Sassy is affected by her age and the cold. Not a good combination. The picture of my trailer is a typical PNW late fall day.

Veterans Day was this month and Smitty, Denise and I took advantage of the free dinner at Applebee’s and then went to see Midway. I told Smitty that we should wear the shirt that Willy Hall gave us since none of us had taken pictures in them yet. When we sent our picture to Joe and Willy we got pictures back and they were wearing the same shirt.

It’s hard to believe that we were on the Oriskany, our first trip to Vietnam 50 years ago!
